EMERY CARDAS  was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1961. He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Turin, Italy, with Renzo Brancaleon, and in Naples, Italy, with Willy La Volpe, getting his degree in 1983. He later studied at the Academy of music in Vienna, Austria, with Tobias Kühne, and at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, with Janos Starker.
For many years he was a member of the Christopher Quartet, making recordings and touring in Italy, U.S.A. and South America. Emery Cardas has served as principal cellist of the Alessandro Scarlatti Orchestra in Naples, Italy,  of the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Barcelona, Spain, of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway),  and finally of the Norwegian Radio and Television Orchestra in Oslo, Norway, position which he holds at the moment.  A guest at various chamber music festivals, he also teaches privately in Oslo. His instrument is a Nicola Gagliano violoncello, built in Naples in 1769.
